What happens during the visit

A technical representative examines the roof deck or wall area in person. For roofs, this includes checking existing waterproofing, identifying drainage outlets, measuring available height at parapets and thresholds, and reviewing structural drawings if the building administrator has them on file. For interior living walls, the visit focuses on light conditions, humidity, wall substrate, and where irrigation plumbing can realistically connect.

The visit usually takes between 45 minutes and two hours, depending on building size and how much documentation already exists. We photograph relevant details and note anything that would affect system selection, such as existing rooftop equipment, parapet height, or access restrictions.

Afterward, we send a short written summary describing which system categories look feasible and what additional information, if any, a structural engineer would need to confirm before a full proposal is prepared.

What to have ready

If available, existing roof or building drawings speed up the process considerably, though their absence does not prevent a visit from going ahead. It helps to have a building representative or facilities contact present who can answer questions about roof access, existing rooftop equipment, and any planned works nearby.

For living wall enquiries in lobbies or reception areas, having access to the space during normal business hours is usually enough. There is no cost associated with the initial site visit itself.
